Our New Tree...

We had a fun time today watching the workmen move this massive Pandanus tree down the street and then try to fit into a new garden right outside the store.

They had to trim the roots so it would fit, I think they underestimated just how big the tree really was:)

Doesn't it look good :)

We recently removed a wall to open up the shop a little more and now there is a lot more space to play with.  Lynette has had fun rearranging and creating new displays.

Class Sign Up...

Whilst we have only been open a few months, anyone who has visited LQS will know that the store is jam packed with goodies.  So much so, that we are in the process of expanding already!  A wall has come down, painting and patching is under way, and over the next week or so, you will see an exciting new area added.  Can’t wait to see what goes in here……  In the last post we hinted at some classes for 2013.  We have now finally found some time when Lynette will be here in Australia and set dates for the first two of Lynette's classes.  Both will be full day classes (9.30am to 4.00pm) and both are limited to just 8 students each.  Friday 8 February 2013  …. Beehive Sewing Book This is a great project for all level of ability students. Techniques include appliqué, simple embroidery and fun with wool.  Tuesday 26 February 2013 ….  Shepherd’s Cottage Bag Lots of different techniques in this bag so come and join Lynette for a day of stitching fun.  Each class is $60 (includes morning tea) plus the cost of the pattern (fabrics/buttons etc are not included).  A non-refundable deposit of $30 is required on confirmation of your booking.  If you would like to be one of the first to join us for a fun and informative day of sewing, chatting and generally having a good time, fill in the registration form below for your preferred class and return the completed form by email to sales@littlequiltstore.com.au, or drop it into the store.  Sorry, but bookings cannot be made over the phone.   8 FEBRUARY CLASS REGISTRATION, Beehive Sewing Book... Download Class Registration form 26 February 2013  Because class sizes are small, be sure to be quick to return your form.  Registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  We will contact you if your application is successful so that your deposit can be paid, and we can provide you with full details of requirements etc. Pictured below is one of Lynette's new patterns called 'A Day Spent Sewing', its a sweet combination of piecing (spool blocks at the bottom), simple appliqué, stitchery and some of Lynette's beautiful handpainted buttons. 'A Day Spent Sewing' looks great on this 6" x 12" metal sewing themed table top quilt hanger which we now have in stock.

November Give-away...

With the shop now running smoothly, and products available through our online store, we have had some time here at LQS to start thinking about classes for 2013.

Classes will be limited to 8 students only, and will be a relaxed, friendly experience… just like sewing with friends!  All classes will be for hand sewn projects covering a variety of techniques.  So there is bound to be at least one you will want to sign up for!

 Details should be available soon, so keep an eye open in the coming weeks for more information.

LQS 3 Months Old...

How time passes…Little Quilt Store is nearly 3 months old and the team has settled in well.   The street scaping out the front of the store is almost complete and you will find it much easier now to get to the front door!  If you are visiting the Sunshine Coast be sure to call in to say hello and have a look at the many fabulous fabrics, patterns and notions we have in stock.

We are also really excited that the new website is up and running for Little Quilt Store. We have been busy loading up most of our products, so that you now have the option of calling in, or buying online.

Hollyhock Cottage has arrived...

We were very excited this week as Lynette’s new Hollyhock Cottage fabrics have arrived in store. The girls were very busy yesterday cutting and folding the fabrics to make some very cute bundles. 

 ‘Hollyhock Cottage’, a little thatched cottage with smoke curling from the chimney is nestled in the garden amongst the flowers and trees… Hugo the dog is playing with a daisy chain while the birds watch from the safety of the wheelbarrow… spring is in the air.

 A striking but subtle fabric collection from Lynette Anderson with a combination of large and small prints which combine earthy browns, petrol blues, duck egg blues, mushroom and off whites.

We have a range of patterns that use these beautiful new fabrics...a lovely quilt pattern, a gorgeous pillow pattern and a cute hanging pillow pattern which includes an iron on transfer.

 Hollyhock Cottage is available in fat 1/4, fat 1/8 and angel delight bundles and also by the metre.

We also have a great range of Dress It Up buttons; there are lots of different themed packs...sewing, cats, birds, Christmas and more and all packs are a bargain at only $3.95!

Sae has been busy this week making some kits for the very sweet Anvil Cottage. The kit includes fabrics for the wallhanging top, pattern and threads. The Kit is $34.95 and we have the frames in store and online as well.

 

Bright Fun...

 

When you visited the store last, you may have seen the beautiful Batiks fabrics and the lovely display of bright Tilda products.

 We have just taken delivery of thread packs which will complement these fabrics perfectly…. Cosmo Seasons Threads in yummy bright colours!

Cupboard Fun...

I painted this old cupboard white using Porters milk paint but decided it was rather boring all white so I painted the door recesses a rather nice chocolate (yes its Cadburys brown!) 

Emma cut some lovely words out using our laser cutter, we had pre-painted the boards.

So with my trusty hot glue gun in hand I got started on putting the words onto the front of the doors.

Looking good so far...
