Autumn Swap..
One of the participants of the Autumn Gathering and I decided a few months ago that we would do an Autumn swap with each other. The rules of our Autumn swap were based upon the valentine swap that Lucy Locket hosted earlier this year, we had to handmake something with an Autumn theme (rather than the valentine theme) that took about 3 hours to make, add something from our stash to the value of about $6 and of course give something sweet.
The fun begins as Jo and I begin to open our packages..

Such fun, fabric, rick rack, a tiny pot of buttons, lovely lavender soap and the most beautiful beaded keyring..

Can you see there is the neatest blanket stitch and feather stitch down the seams.

Take a peek inside, an address book, pen, postcards and stamps, everything a girl could need who is off to the USA in three weeks time...

Then there was this brilliant 'thread catcher' which makes me wonder if my swap partner has seen my messy workshop... maybe I think she has guessed I am messy when working. Anyhow this little fabric pot for popping your threads into whilst working came from a tutorial on The Stitching Room's blog, maybe you can make yourself one too.

This is what I made for Jo, its an acorn needlecase from a pattern from Crabapple Hill. The patterns from this designer are all gorgeous and are widely available, ask for them at your local quilt shop.

What a great swap. You got some lovely stuff. And I remember now having that acorn needlecase pattern. It's so cute. It is fun doing swaps like this.

Thank-you Lynette, I had so much fun doing this swap and it was wonderful that we could do it face-to-face. I love my acorn!

Hey Lynette! Hmmm, the thread catcher would need to be MUCH bigger to cope with the mess I manage to make when sewing!! Tee! Hee! Hee! Love the acorn - so cute! And you're so right about the lovely neat stitching on the goodies Jo gave you - well done to you both! I think I need to find some sewing friends to do a swap with!!! Bear Hugs! the quilt below the comments "Jo and I began to open our package" I wondered what quilt pattern it is? It looks like some kind of log cabin with flowers in between the blocks?
