Eggs For Breakfast...

Whilst looking through some old papers today I found a wonderful letter from one of my customers. She was busy making my quilt Eggs for Breakfast

Eggs_for_breakfast

and remembered that her grandfather used to say X for breakfast which is from an old Cockney alphabet.
A for ‘orses (hay for horses)
B for mutton (beef or mutton)
C for yourself (see for yourself)
D for ential (differential)
E for Adam (Eve or Adam)
F for scent (effervescent)
G for gotton (forgotten)
H for himself (each for himself)
I for E (ivory)
J for orange (jaffa orange)
K’s for doctor (case for doctor)
L for leather (hell for leather)
M for sis (emphasis)
N for lope (envelope)
O for the garden wall (over the garden wall)
P’s for dinner (peas for dinner)
Q for billiards (cue for billiards)
R for mo (half a mo)
S for you (its for you)
T for biting (teeth for biting)
U for me (you for me)
V for la France (viva la France)
W for the winnings (double you for the winnings)
X for breakfast (eggs for breakfast)
Y for husband (wife or husband)
Z for wind (zephyr wind)

I see in the picture of the quilt there is one of my beloved hens running in front of the quilt, I cant remember what type of hen she was, although I do remember that her eggs were wonderful. Do any of you know what type of hen she was?

bye for now

Higs Mary.

Don't know what sort of hen it is, but I took my two granddaughters to local show on Friday and we say a black and white speckled chook like that and Chloe said "Look Granma a 101 Dalmation chook". Out of the mouths of babes!! Love the quilt by the way.

What a gorgeous quilt!

What a pretty quilt! My sis would love it. She likes all things chicken. I believe the chicken in quetion is a plymouth barred rock.

hallo! your blog is very very beautiful!! kiss ... Ilenia from Italy

The quilt is gorgeous and I love the poem - I'll have to try to learn it! Lucy x

Love your girls... just getting a couple myself!

The black/white hen, if her pattern is like banding, and has pinky/brown eggs, she's a "The Plymouth Rock" (see piccy)

If her feathers have a v pattern in white, and with white eggs, then she's a "Ancona". (see piccy)

Hope this helps!

I forgot the piccies. woops!

This is an ancona, which I am 99% sure is your girl.
