Home and stitching..

We are home safe, having had an amazing time both at The Rabbits Lair and at Spring Market where we met so many of the lovely store owners who already stock my patterns, books and buttons and where I am very excited to say we took orders from lots of new stores.

Needless to say the suitcases came home rather fuller than when we went! A few bundles of fabric threw themselves at me during my visit to sample spree ......yummy and inspiring....

Tangled threads

We got home early wednesday morning and have now caught up on unpacking and doing the washing. Friday I went into the studio to start work on a couple of new projects ready for my UK visit in August. Still playing with ideas at the moment....

Not sure if these hexagons will be included in the final project but they do look nice and I had fun making them, the fabric colours are just gorgeous.

Oh and I thought I should introduce a new button, Miss Lizzy who is still at the prototype stage yet but the version seen here with the daisy necklace instead of a collar is my favourite.

Hope you are all well and have been busy stitching while I have been away? What are you all working on anyhow? Talk soon I hope.

Setting up..

Here I am kneeling on the floor surrounded by a sea of things that still need to be tidied up!

Vince is putting out the brochures which we finally found, for a moment we thought we had lost them!

This year I decided to splash out and have a corner booth and I am really happy with how it looks. The wonderful picket fence cupboard was kindly lent to us by a friend, thanks Mary Jane x x

Fingers crossed for a great market.

Into The Rabbits Lair I go....

We arrived safely in Arkansas at The Rabbits Lair on Saturday evening after a long but good journey.

The store in housed in one of the gorgeous historic building in Rogers AR, the building was originally a bank and has an amazing tiled floor and high ceilings. My hosts Mary Elizabeth and her mom, Clarice have made the store into a venerable treasure trove with colour and texture in every corner. Its well worth a visit if you are in the area, needless to say my suitcase got a little fuller after my visit to the store!

Monday and tuesday I held two one day workshops in the spacious class room with some lovely ladies, who had come from far and wide. We had a great day full of laughter, conversation, wonderful food, many friendships were started, new techniques were learned and I think its safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves

Here are some of the ladies with me after the first days workshop, they are all still smiling so I guess that shows that we had lots of fun!

Thanks ladies it was wonderful to meet you all and I had a great time.

My bags are packed...

Tomorrow at the crack of dawn we are off to the airport for our trip to the US for Spring Market. I will try to get a few posts done while I am away but I cant promise.

Today Fatcat helped me to stitch the binding on my two new quilts, this is Snowball Fun made from my new fabric collection Snowmen Make Me Smile.

It features three giant snowballs with wonderful stitchery/applique scenes in each snowball, this picture was taken before it was quilted and as always the quilting makes it look even better.

Snowball fun

Hugo decided it was fun to use Snowball Fun as a blanket to sunbathe on! Hmmm... not sure thats really what I made it for!

This is The Real Santa which we have remade using fabrics from my new fabric collection 'Snowmen Make Me Smile' and I just love how it has looks.

Today I am busy preparing some step by step samples ready for my students to see when I am teaching at The Rabbits Lair in Arkansas, USA on Monday and Tuesday next week. I am excited and a bit nervous about the trip........ anyhow.... this is one of the projects that we will be working on in the class, its called Beehive Sewing Book.

Beehive sewing1

I should also introduce my 'new look' patterns, the graphic whizz kid Emma who works for me has been very busy creating a more modern look for my patterns and I absolutely love what she has come up with, hope you like them too?

Beehive sewing

The Beehive Sewing Book pattern will be available in your local quilt shop very soon so if your not able to come to my workshop in either at The Rabbits Lair, USA next week or at Quilters Haven, UK in August then perhaps you had better treat yourself to a copy.

Did you win?

It has been a pleasure reading all the reasons why Snowmen Make you Smile...... they seem to make us all happy.....thank you Snowmen and Women around the world you seem to make us all smile for one reason or another.....

the random number generator picked No. 72, Vreni left this message for me

"Snowmen are happy - I've never seen an unhappy one. Even when they are melting, they don't seem to mind. Maybe it has also to do that I now live in the tropics while my heart is longing for snow ;)"

Congratulations Vreni, please email me back with your postal address so I can get your little bundle of fabrics off in the post to you.

Really Wild Tea Cosies...

Mum and I had a bit of a girls day out on Saturday in preparation for mothers day, I picked mum up at 7.30 and we headed off to the markets as I wanted to see if I could get another little bird necklace like this one I bought ages ago and which I love wearing.

Bird necklace

While looking for a place to have a coffee we spotted Loani Prior sitting outside the bookshop busy knitting, creating one of her really wild tea cosies.

Loani was at the bookshop for the launch of her new book 'really wild tea cosies'. The book is full of colour and wonderful tea cosy creations, we bought a copy for my aunt in England and Loani kindly signed it for us.

PS. Did you notice the gorgeous button necklace Loani is wearing......pretty.

We also managed to find some gorgeous new clothes for my trip to the US next week (EEEK..... is it only next week.....I had better get my suitcase packed soon), one of the things we bought was this pair of funky.....

new red shoes which I am wearing right now so they soften up before I need to keep them on all day.

SnowbaLL FuN...

My new quilt, 'SnowBall FuN' using my gorgeous fun new fabric collection, which I called 'Snowmen Make Me Smile' is at the quilters as I type.... I cant wait to see it quilted.

Snowball fun blue

A simple charm square background sets off the three giant snowballs. Combining basic embroidery with some appliqué the three snowballs each have a different scene featuring snowmen having fun, the red Ric Rac edging that I used on the edge of each snowball makes this quilt rather fun. I will show it to you very soon......

The fabrics themselves should be arriving in the stores very soon, in case your favourite local quilt shop hasn't ordered any of it then you can pre order it here

Henry Glass fabrics have also got a free pattern available to go with this fabric which you can get here, Download snowmen make me smile
