As a child I used to go to Spain every Easter to visit my grandparents who lived by the Mediterranean Sea. I remember the orchard down by the river near where they lived where the orange trees were heavily laden with oranges and the air was filled with butterflies. As a child I remember wondering if they were abandoned orchards they certainly looked as if they were.
At the moment I am busy working on some new embroidery designs, this one is inspired by the orange trees from my memories, the design is to go with my new fabric collection which is called 'Secret Garden', its such fun getting the embroidery bits ready in anticipaton of the fabrics arrving sometime soon... hurry up Mr Postman....
I hope you like what you see....
I am using some of the very lovely overdyed threads from Weeks Dye Works for this project, the colours are just a perfect match for my fabrics. 'The Orange Tree' will be a sweet pillow with a new button which has been designed specially for it, the wheelbarrow buttons are being painted at the moment. In my minds eye I can see this little house perched on a hillside in the south of Spain, I think it needs a little button for the door handle too or perhaps a satin stitched one, what do you think?
Tulips and daisies and a garden snail, I am a bit attracted to these slimy creatures if you remember there were even a few on my Noahs Ark.
