My Fun Slippers...

" Join me on the ‘great slipperthon’ to make some pairs of slippers that will make your feet feel and look fabulous. I have had fun designing six different stitchery designs each with a different theme, combining some new stitchery designs with some English paper pieced hexagons to create these unique comfortable and stylish slippers.

Whilst I adore making quilts, wall hangings and pillows to fill my home with, I also love to make practical things and these fabulous slippers fit the description beautifully so come on sign up today and join us on the ‘great slipperthon’.

Everyone needs a pair of slippers or perhaps even two or three pairs, why not make all your friends and family a pair for their birthdays this year. I like to take a light pair with me when I travel so at the end of the day I can unwind the same way I do at home by changing into some loose fitting clothes and slipping on my comfortable slippers - bet you do too."

Flowers from the garden...

Today I though I would share with you what is on my kitchen bench by the sink, a sweet bouquet of flowers which mum picked from her garden. This wild bunch of flowers make me smile everytime I catch a glimpse of them and they smell nice too as there are some herbs in the mix.

Julies Mug

The gorgeous handbulit/painted mug that I am using as a vase, well I guess its time I shared with you the wonderful work of Julie Whitmore to which I am totally addicted and have to confess to owning a few pieces!!

Photo shoot..

Whilst I briefly have some of my quilts here I thought I would take the opportunity to get them professionally photographed. Between Emma and I we manage to take pictures of the smaller projects but trying to get a good picture of a bigger quilt and make sure the colouring is good is a job for a proffesional

Here is the 'Wonky Santas' quilt laid out on the floor ready..

Wonky Santas

Oh and here is a peek at my new 4 part block of the month 'A Dogs Life', inspired by no other than my fanithful hound Hugo (who is lying on my feet keeping them warm right now).

Sorry you can only see my back! I am supervising while Emma and the photogrpaher do all the hard work!

We had a fun morning out and came home with the edited pictures on a CD ready to use on the new patterns and on the website etc.

Today I am stitching the binding on the last quilt so its ready to go in my suitcase, we leave for Houston on Thursday morning (fingers crossed Qantas will be flying).

Got to stitch all day = happy me

McGnome's stitchery is coming along nicely and although I thought I was making one thing, now I see the embrodery completed I am going to change my mind!

McGnome

So, back to the drawing board as they say and I will be back tomorrow maybe not with sewing things as Emma and I are going on location with the photographer to get some of my quilts professionally photographed. We will take our camera so you can see what we get up to...

Raggy Garden..

Phew, after two washes in the machine and a tumble in the dryer my 'Raggy Garden' quilt looks realy great. I have used soft blues, mauves and greens in this little quilt . It has cotton batting and its come out so soft and snuggly, perhpas I need to make another one this weekend!

Raggy Garden

However I have to be honest and say that I have in fact already started another little project!! The MrGnome button who is only a prototype is very cute but he is has too many fiddly flowers on him at the moment and no one wants to paint more of him!, So once he is simplified a bit we will launch him, meanwhile I am working on a project for him to be on. In fact MrGnome may need to change his jacket for a blue one and get green wellies so he loks nicer with my fabrics only time will tell how he is going to evolve!

Gnome

Better get back to the stitchery part of this design as I am not as far along as I had planned to be today as I snuck out for a couple of hours this afternoon to look for a new pair of sandals which I found plus a few things I needed but didnt need if you know what I mean!

Smudgy colours..

Well, I didnt get to finish the quilt I started on Sunday but this quilt arrived home from the long arm quilter this morning and I am so happy with the result. Liz has done lots of quilting and it has made the quilt look very special. When its not threatening to rain I will take some pictures of the back so you can see what she did.

Time for one more thing??

Yesterday, I know it was Sunday and I should have been relaxing but...I decided that I had time to make one more thing using my yummy new fabric collection before going to Houston. So I cut and cut and cut...

Cutting pile

then I layered and pinned and layered and pinned ...

Sandwich layers

and now I am sewing fast using the machine with whom I am really not on best friends terms with, we simply tolerate each other!

Be back tomorrow with the results...I hope...

Stitching and finishes...

There has been alot of stitching, pattern printing and packing happening around here as the new designs are finally almost all finished (just one more quilt to bind) all in readiness for Quilt Market in Houston where I will be going at the end of the month to show my new creations to shop owners.

I am feeling a bit weary today and have a sore throat so a trip to the doctor this afternoon confired that I have toncillitus, hopefully it will clear up with some anti biotics. Today to cheer my up Emma lined up all my new projects so I could see why my fingers ache both from stitching, pattern writing and from folding paper patterns!

New projects 2011

This display is showing off my new designs and showcasing my new fabric collection 'Secret Garden' which will be in stores towards the end of the year. This pillow called 'The Orange Tree' has turned out so nicely, there are a few stores who have ordered it already, the handpainted wheelbarrow button is available separately. I used some hand over dyed threads from Weeks Dye Works, I love the soft subtle shades.

Orange tree and pincushions

At the bottom of the pile is my new BOM, 'A Dogs Life' its a four part BOM and is almost ready for show and tell and I hope you will love it as much as I do. Well its time to make a cup of tea and think of something to cook for dinner tonight......bet its not really my turn to cook...perhpas the boys would like pizza...or chinese....

Thanks so much to everyone who left messages, we have three lucky winners of the Anvil Cottage pattern giveaway are... Lori P, Mieke and Lia. Be watching your inboxes for my email.

Many people asked, why is it called Anvil Cottage?? Anvil Cottage is the name of the cottage that my Aunt lives in, she lives in the South of England and I just love her cottage, warm and welcoming.
