On our last morning in Tokyo we headed out early despite the cold wind to a flea market. Thankfully the sun was out, although it was still hard to find a warm spot.
Here I am trying to think 'warm' thoughts while my whole body has a double set of goosebumps!
I loved these brushes and would have loved to have bought the whole pot full but since I am sure some of them are made from animal products I would probably not have been allowed to bring them into Australia so I just took this lovely photo as a memeory of them.
Jane who is an expert in finding treasures at flea markets found this gorgeous traditional hat which after much consideration she bartered for and bought.
Lyn and Emma had fun poking around in all the treasures laid out on the ground.
Mary the expert antique fabric finder led us through the stalls. After a fun couple of hours looking at the assortment of items for sale we headed for a hot coffee and something to eat.
We passed a small temple on the walk home, these lovely lanterns were hung on the wall outside. I am not sure of thier meaning but I liked what they looked like.
Now back to the Tokyo Quilt Show pictures, these are some of the many framed quilts. This one from a distance caught my eye as it looked like pieces from a jigsaw puzzel.
Such tiny pieces, the corners are well matched.
I loved this one, for its colours and again tiny pieces and so neatly stitched.
This was a fun scene with alot of tiny tiny piecing (take a close look at the construction for the rainbow) embroidered details.
Well, its good to be home and today I need to get back into work mode as I am busy working on some exciting new projects for the LAPC which its still not too late to join. I am also working on a couple ofhings for workshop projects and a small booklet that will feature fabrics from my 2012 Christmas fabric collection ('Christmas Fun'), I borrowed the name for the fabric collection from the last button club as I liked it so much.
