Lynette has been in The Netherlands for the last couple of days teaching at Petra Prins Patchwork and Quilting and Den Haan Wagenmakers and she sent through some photos which we thought we would share with you. How sweet are these little Dutch statues? Their clogs are so cute! Lynette is at the tail end of her European jaunt but before she heads home she is off to conduct some workshops at Antique Angel in London. Hugo has had a wonderful time with us in the office but he will be very glad to see her, as will his furry feline pals who were left at home.
While Lynette has been away we have been baby sitting Hugo here at the office. He just loves afternoon tea time... he gets one of his yummy bone shaped biscuits whilst we share a yummy fruit scone from the bakery next door... not too good for the waistline having a bakery within a few steps of our front door! If Hugo had his way we would be having afternoon tea every 15 minutes and we'd share the scone with him too, haha.
I was having a tidy up in one of our cupboards today and I found a little box and these cute guys were inside...
These guys have been hiding away since we moved into our new studio at the start of the year. Now that I have rescued them, they need to go off to good homes. Visit here if you would like to adopt one of these sweeties today.
I have even found some really cute sets hidden away...
ps. they would make great Mother's day gifts :)
Well after a long drive from Nantes to The Netherlands yesterday, I spent today having a much needed quiet day reflecting on the people I had met and the things I had seen and working out what I took photos of that I could share with you. As usual there were some wonderful displays, rooms set up to display some very talented quiltmakers quilts.
I fell in love with the quilts by Linda Koenig, a signed copy of her book 'Scrap Quilts' published by QuiltMania is coming home in my suitcase. Here we are together giggling as Mary Koval was trying to take our photo...needless to say we have a very funny video as that was the first button Mary pressed...and 'no' I am not showing you the video!
There was a fabulous bright display of quilts from Australian designer Kathy Doughty who has a lovely book published by Quiltmania which is called 'Making Quilts...the promise of joy'.
Japanese quiltmaker Reiko Kato had a wonderful display, this little quilt of houses caught my eye.
I particularly loved how the quilt blocks are joined by flowers.
Australian Brigitte Giblin had a wonderful display of quilts, the style is unmistakeable and her book 'Feathering The Nest' was filled with divine quilts for you to make. Visit Brigitte on Facebook.
Tomorrow I am teaching a workshop for Petra Prins in Zutphen and then on Wednesday I have a workshop in Amsterdam. There are lots of lovely goodies waiting in the classroom for the ladies who are joining me for the day.
Just look at these yummy bundles of 'Secret Garden' fabrics....
Its time for bed as it will be a busy day tomorrow x
While Lynette is away we have been working hard to prepare her cute little kits for Spring Market in Kansas City. We have been very busy cutting Lynette's new Christmas Fun and Happy Halloween fabrics for the kits. Lynette will be releasing the new collections when she is in Kansas City next month.
We have also been preparing stars for Lynette's class that she will be teaching at Spring Market. Our office is becoming a sea of stars...
I hope everyone had a fun weekend and got lots of stitching done.
We know how everyone loves to grab a bargain so at Hugo’s urging we have decided on a special weekend offer… Spend $50.00 or more in our online store and use the code WEEKENDSALE and you will receive a 10% discount on your order. This offer expires at 12.00am on 23/4/12 AEST and is not to be used in conjunction with any other offer including the LAPC discount code.
Have a great weekend!
On monday I travelled back with Mandy and Izi, two lovely ladies who are both very talented long arm quilters, they had attended my workshop at Cowslip and sweetly offered me a lift back to London.
Monday night I got to spend with friends, a lovely supper and alot of happy laughter (its been a couple of years since we last saw each other). There was some show and tell, Maureen and Valerie have both been stitching like crazy women to complete some projects...just look at thier bag collection (pictures taken on my phone, I left my big camera at home to save suitcase space for samples).
I love the soft green prints in Valeries garden pillow which is the one featured on the front of my new book 'Country Cottage Quilting'.
How about these gorgeous puppy slippers....using my secret garden fabrics.... patterns are available here if you want to make a pair for yourself, choose from puppy, kitty, house, christmas, pumpkin or garden.
Maureen has also finished her quilt top from 'Stitched By Me' she has made hers in the summertine friends colourway and her stitching is so neat. If you want to make a quilt like this I still have a few fat eigth bundles of these fabrics left but be quick if you want some x x
I had a great sleepover at Maureens where I slept soundly and was refreshed ready for my onward journey (thanks Maureen). I will be seeing these girls and some other members of the group on my return to the UK next week.
The final show and tell was this wonderful jacket that Valerie was wearing, I have to say that the secret garden fabrics look great as log cabin and the jacket is brilliant.
bye for now
I landed very early in London friday morning and was whisked first to Devon for a meeting at David and Charles my publishers where I got to meet everyone in the building. We passed this famous set of stones en route and I managed to get this picture from the car as we raced past!
I arrived at the very pretty Cowslip Workshops in Cornwall where my first group of ladies joined me for a workshop on Saturday. This is the view from the farm where the store, workshop and fabulous cafe are located. If you look closely you will see the old castle on the top of the hill in the center of the town.
Here are the ladies hard at work....
of various colours
Ellen who works at Cowslip brought some lovely 'show and tell' for us to see, here she is showing us her 'Friends For Christmas' quilt.
We gathered together at the end of the day having had a great day stitching, chatting and eating wonderful food from the eat@cowslip cafe.
I absolutely loved this pot of pansys, the colour of the flowers against the brick wall was so vibrant.
Be back soon.. x x Lynette x x
I have had three lovely emails from ladies who have sent me pictures of their finished products. Pam and Pilar have both sent in their beautiful Fernhill blocks "The Dell", - both have done a great job and their blocks look wonderful.
"The Dell" stitched by Pam
"The Dell" stitched by Pilar
"Peacock Manor" stitched by Hanneke
Hanneke, one of our LAPC members has sent in a picture of her finished "Peacock Manor" project which was March's project ... there is still time to join the club. Hanneke has made her project with one of Lynette's kits, isn't it beautiful? The kits are available in our online store. If anyone else has a finished project to show us, please send in your photos :) firstname.lastname@example.org
Before all of Lynette's stock was shipped to France, I managed to sneak out some of the kits to put into our online shop... I know not everyone can go to Nantes to see Lynette at the show and these kits are just too cute to miss out on.
We have the Garden Gnome Needlebook kit, complete with all the things you need to make your very own Gnome Needlebook.
We also have sweet kits for Lynette's Garden Pincushions, the only extra you will need is some toy fill.
Both these kits use Lynette's Secret Garden fabric which we also have available in our online store, we now have fat quarter packs in 5 different colour ways... they are so pretty that I want them all :)
If you have made any projects using Lynette's Secret Garden fabric we would love to see. Thank you to all the ladies who have sent me pictures of their finished fernhill blocks...they all look lovely, keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing everyones block 2.
ps Hugo is having a great time with us in the office while his mummy is away and he is also making a big mess :)
