Paper fun...

My fabulous range of licensed goods has been arriving in stores around the world and since Christmas is not that far away and the sending out of Christmas cards is even closer we thought we should show you what the creative team here at Lynette Anderson Designs have created to inspire you to get card making. The combination of paper, lace and ribbons is great, to get this look for your cards why not treat yourself to a pack that has one of everything....go on I dare you!

Sallys cards

I absolutely love how Sally has added the sparkle dots to this card. If you look closely you will see she has added an aged look to the edges of each circle using a brown pen, each little circle is raised from the base page using one of those sticky spongy things...(name someone please?)

Reindeer card

Emma creations are totally different in style which shows you how versatile the papers in the pack are.

Emmas cards

I love this little covered box that Emma has made, she started with a little recycled box that you can get in most craft stores and had fun decorating it. The lovely flower on the top was made using one of her cutters and the addition of some gold dots on the petals and the Ric Rac braid give a professional look.

Emmas gift box

How about making a sweet little gingerbread house...

Hopefully we have inspired you, if your local store does not have my prpducts then you can order them here but hurry as stocks are getting very low which is very exciting, thank you.

Enjoy Lynette

New colour: New Look

Bet you thought I meant my hair colour!! Well the cut style is changing slightly but since its only half way to a new look I am not showing you yet.

Last week Vince and I finally chose a new dining room table and chairs and since the dining room/kitchen and sitting areas are all one big room we needed to change the sitting area to go with our new look....so my painter (the new dad) came over to give my wall its new gravel paint colour. I have loved the dirty turquoise colour that it was and was nervous and a bit sad to see it go....

BUT...I love the finished look, the gravel colour seems to change with the light, sometimes looking mauve(ish) and sometimes brown(ish) plus its very smart. The rest of the walls if they are not windows are cream so the rooms are still light and airy. I have had fun adding some black and some neutral/black pillows and I've had fun searching for things that we already own that havent been out on display for ages to complete the new look, of course some things have had to be packed away as they dont look right at the moment.

Oh, besides the table and chairs we also bought a new sideboard, its made from tin! I am still playing with ideas for what to put on it and on the wall behind it. One idea was lots of family black and white photos....time consuming to do but fun, we did buy a rather interesting large clock (I adore clocks as you know so buying anew one made me very happy!). I am also considering stencilling a number in red on the wall to match the numbers on the draws?? Probably 30 or since we live at No3, maybe a 3 would be fun?

What do you think about the stencilled number on the wall? I will show you the table/chairs and wall once its completed but it will have to wait now until I return from my trip to the US for Quilt Market and Festival.

Little Quilt Store..

Little Quilt Store Logo-02

The store has been open for 3 months, I cant believe its been open that long already, time does fly! Emma has been busy working on an online store and although there are still many many items still to load we feel its time for you to take a look.

Categoryimage-picture-seam-rippers-and-sewing-kits-41_jpg_200x190_q85

There are lots of these gorgeous handmade in Australia lovely quick unpicks (seam rippers) and sewing kits for you to choose from. Plus I have tracked down these gorgeous zippers that have the most beautiful charms on the ends.

Charm zippers

In fact I have found lots of the little 'hard to find' Japanese sewing accessories that I love to use.

I would love you to sign up for the store newsletters, the Lynette Anderson Designs site will no longer be handling the newsletters and we are unable to transfer your details due to the privacy act so to keep in touch you need to sign up here.

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes for my first grandchild, she is beautiful (of course) and already 5 weeks old! This picture was taken when she was just a week old.

One new quilt almost done...

Yesterday afternoon Elaine from Yankee Doodle Quilting invited me round to her studio to see one of my new quilts 'Hearts and Paws' on her quilting machine. I hadn't realised quite how large these long arm machines are until I got up close to one!

Its fun to see your quilt in the process of being quilted.....its got to be ready to go into my suitcase by Tuesday next week.... Elaine offers a binding and rod pocket service too so I have said 'yes please' to that :)

As you can see new the fabrics 'Follow My Heart' are looking really nice together and this quilt pattern will come with two versions, you can choose to put either the cat or a dog in the centre....cute. The patterns are being printed right now on our printing machine (Big Bertha) and will be shipped to the US ready for Quilt Market 27th to 29th Oct 2012.

Please ask for this new pattern'Hearts and Paws' at your local quilt store or if you are coming to Quilt Festival (week after market) in Houston be sure to visit my booth #1504 where I will have limited fat quarter bundles of this collection and the new pattern.

Simply Fat Quarters...

Small hollyhock cottage swatchesI was very excited when Kimberly from Fat Quarter shop mentioned that she was making a quilt for their first book 'Simply Fat Quarters' using fabrics from my Hollyhock Cottage fabric collection. Here is the picture from the book of the quilt that has been made using my fabrics, I love it.

Thistle quilt

The book is nicely presented and is really clever as it gives you fabric requirements and directions to make each of the 10 quilt designs in 4 different sizes.

Simply fat quarters

You can buy Hollyhock Cottage fabrics at my Little Quilt Store which has now got its own little website. Emma has been busy adding products and we have alot still to add :) please keep popping back as we have now got stock of the hard to find Japanese zips and accessories and will be adding them later this week.

Hollyhock Cottage fabrics

This bag is one of my favourite shapes to make and to use and I have done several different designs on this bag shape. I wanted to have a bag that looked great with my denim jeans and these fabrics do look good with denim, when I made  'Robin Cottage' I did the shoulder strap a bit longer than the pattern says because when I am out shopping I like to have both hands free and carry the bag across my body.  I used a wonderful vintage button from my collection on the bag, I hate to say it but the button gets admired as much as the bag!

Mixing Fabric Collections..

I have been busy playing with some lovely wool which I am using for some of the applique in my new quilt.

IMG_0263

I made some of these lovely star blocks in my quilt Christmas Fun and love them, even though at 3" finished they were a bit of a fiddle to make. I am not sure they are exactly what I want for this new quilt but since they are addictive to make and I already seem to have a pile of them I may have to make them work in this new design!

IMG_0264

Did you notice? I am mixing fabrics from 'Hollyhock Cottage' (on shelves in stores now) with 'Follow My Heart' which is being showcased at Quilt Market, Houston, USA later this month. I love the mixture and I wanted to show you how nicely my collections blend together...as you can see I am having fun with these scallops which are going to be interesting in the quilt...and the nice new checked yarn dye the scallops are resting on is part of the 'Follow My Heart' collection.
