Happiness Is...Quilting, McKinney Texas

I could not resist relaxing before the next flight in one of these gorgeous wooden rocking chairs that were all over the airport - such fun.

Up, up and away here we go again - next stop Dallas, TX

I have to admit I mostly doze on planes but for once I did a little stitching, sorry the colour is rubbish. I bought the book 'Millefiore Quilts' by Willyne Hammerstein from Quiltmania and got myself a playing with paper pack and have had fun fussy cutting some of my coming soon fabrics. I can't promise that I will make a whole quilt or even a pillow but I am enjoying just stitching. The playing with paper pack comes with acrylic templates for each shape so you can easily rotary cut the fabrics + you can see what your cutting!! I still cut some wrong but I am a fast learner!

Playing with paper pack available here

We arrived safely in McKinney, TX having been picked up at the airport by our hostess Laura Kay - owner at Happiness Is...Quilting. I seem to be attracted to sitting down this trip and could not resist these fun swing chairs that were inside a rather lovely eatery which had amazing food and decor.

Laura Kay and her great staff had gone to a lot of effort to welcome me, the store looked fantastic with wonderful treasures around every corner and my 'goodies' had a space all to themselves.

Lynette Anderson fabrics, buttons, book, patterns and more...

Laura Kay has Fernhill and Christmas Fun quilts on display in her store, she has kits and button packs available for either project. If your interested visit here to see all my 'goodies'.

My workshops were held down the road in a wonderful work space where we had room to move around.

On day two of my workshops much to Vince's delight there was a cycle race through the town.

We were tempted to enter Vince in the race, the prize money was lots $$$'s and in any case he had his helmet, shoes and lycra in our luggage... but he declined.....shame it would have been fun to cheer for someone you knew!!

I loved how our hot irons looked outside as the cooled off at the end of the workshop ready to be packed up and taken home. Can you see the cyclists peddling like crazy in the background!

This was the best sign we saw during the race!

I was invited to give a trunk show and talk for the Denton Quilt Guild, a lot of lovely ladies came. We had a great evening and I am still keeping my fingers crossed that I might win the raffle quilt as it was really nice.

'Scandinavian Christmas' was one of the show and tell quilts form the audience that night, it had been beautifully stitched and the fabric used were lovely.

This sweet quilt 'magical christmas' was one of the gorgeous show and tell during the workshop.

In fact two ladies of the lovely ladies who joined me for a workshop had made Magical Christmas.

Laura Kay and I have pencilled dates in May 2016 when I will be in her store teaching again :) I know the places are already filling so if your interested please contact - Happiness Is...Quilting, TX USA  972-542-8839 to reserve your place.

Maybe we will enter Vince for the road race in 2016.....

Well, I am going to post this and go and make myself a cup of tea. Wish you were here to join me x x hope to see you soon.

Its was a wonderful adventure....thank you for inviting me :)

our playroom for the next two days...

We visited the 'test' kitchens at Meredith where the everything is taste tested!!!

The test garden was so beautiful and although chilly the sun came out for our outdoor adventure.

It was a special couple of days, it was so nice to be with other creators in my field each one of us had uniquely different style. I loved getting to know some of the ladies that previously I had only ever heard about or said a casual 'hello' to at shows. A huge 'thank you' to the editors who made this event a reality x it was fun.
